Robert Loebel’s Wind (2013)

Wind takes a straightforward concept and spins it into something special.

three simple characters are smiling with their hands in the air as a single line tethered to them holds them to the unseen ground below. They look like they're human kites flying in the air. From Robert Loebel’s Wind (2013)

Wind takes a straightforward concept and spins it into something special. It’s about exactly what the name implies–a town where it is constantly windy beyond all reason. From that, director Robert Loebel piles sight gags on top of each other, finding increasingly odd ways for the townsfolk to cope with their environment. It’s a tidy film and only enhanced by the simple art, with the kinds of blocky characters and sharp angles that seem like they might’ve evolved through erosion. It’s efficient, too, without so much as an unnecessary beat. Clever, cute, and just a little contemplative, it’s a perfect little film in its own way.

syn. WIND is an animated short about the daily life of people living in a windy area who seem helplessly exposed to the weather. However, the inhabitants have learned to deal with their difficult living conditions. The wind creates a natural system for living.
