WELCOME TO VAL DUNCAN, OUR NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR!

The QAS Board is thrilled to announce that Val Duncan has been hired as our new Executive Director! Starting in November, Val will be stepping into a key leadership role at Quickdraw, working with the board and staff to continue supporting animation on our community.

Here's a little bit about Val:

"Val has been a member of the Calgary arts community for more than a decade, and is delighted to join QAS! Since graduating from the University of Calgary, she has worked in production roles with organizations such as Alberta Ballet, Theatre Encounter and Springboard Performance, as well as in the film and television industry. In addition to her work as an arts administrator, Val is a voice actor, stage performer and sometimes makes music. She looks forward to thinking and talking about cartoons EVERY DAY with Quickdraw's awesome membership and staff."

Come down to our Open House on November 5, 2022, to meet Val and hang out at the QAS studios! And if you can't make it, don't worry, she'll be around at our upcoming GIRAF festival, and joining the staff at our studios. Welcome to the team, Val! We're so excited to start working with you. It was a long search for a new Executive Director, and the board would like to thank all of the incredibly talented people who applied for the role. You made the Hiring Committee's decision very difficult, and we appreciate you taking the time to talk with us about joining our team. Thank you so much to everyone who applied, to the Hiring Committee members for volunteering their time to the interview process, and to Carol Beecher who has been acting as our Operations Director in the interim, keeping our ship afloat. Go team Quickdraw!
