JOB CALL: 3D Animator for Squid Brain Studios

About the Opportunity

Squid Brain Studios is looking for talented 3D animators to work on the next 3D episode of "Ghost Toast". Ghost Toast lives in a world where Hollywood's classic monsters are baked into a soufflé of food puns. Ghost Toast and his friends explore Bran Castle and their own relationships.

We are looking for animators who love giving life to stories through characters and action. Prospective animators have a solid grasp of timing, lip sync and weight. Alongside the production's Director and co-Director, you will develop and implement quality animation through a collaborative team environment. The animation style has a stop motion flare with quick pose-to-pose action.

Payment/Compensation

$31.20 per second of finished animation. Pro-rated at a rate of $1.30 per frame.

The work you'll be doing

• Execute a variety of animation principles by creating the overall look atn style of the characters animation in concurrence with the already established style and technical essentials.
• Collaborate with fellow animators and production team members to meet set objectives, quotas and deadlines. Ensure proper and open communication with required team members.
• Providing support and collaborate with other animators.
• Animators will be provided completed layout and will be in charge of full animation per shot assigned, along with reasonable revisions.

Start Date and Contract Length

• The position has a tentative start date of August 1, 2023 with the possibility of starting in July 2023
• The length of the contract is approximately 9 months, dependent on the number of animators working on the project.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of animated film and/or TV experience
• post-secondary education or relevant diploma
• Great understanding of 3D animation processes and technologies
• Proficiency in Autodesk Maya and Shotgrid (required software)
• Clear verbal and written communication in English
• Candidates must have Canadian citizenship by birth or immigration and be residents of Alberta.

Bonus Points!

• Experience with traditional, hand-drawn animation and life drawing with strong knowledge in movement, flow and form
• Technical know-how with dynamics, scripting and tools
• Previous experience with studio library and working with a collaborative animation library of pickers, poses and cycles
