JOB CALL: Songs of the Quickdraw Animation Society

Looking for animators for a short term production contract in support of the QAS documentary project. Apply by March 28, 2025

Songs of the Quickdraw Animation Society:

This feature length documentary will celebrate QAS' 40th anniversary, investigating how this eccentric and creative group kept going making and celebrating the art of animation. The story will be told through a combination of archive images and footage, members' film clips, old and new interviews, and animated segments created by QAS members.

Job Description:

Four selected animation artists will receive a commission of $10,000.00 each for the creation of 2-3 minutes of finished animation based on a provided sound track, derived from QAS member interviews, within an 6 month production period. They will not be responsible for any sound design, editing, post-production, equipment rental, or any production concerns outside of the creation of the animation. Artists may work in their own studios or on-site at QAS depending on their preferred production approach and needs. Regular meetings will be held to keep production on track.

Production benchmarks will be:

  • visual development
  • storyboards
  • animatic
  • finished animation

Production approach and schedule details to be worked out with the contracted animators once selected.

Length of Project:

Starting date of contract: April 1, 2025

End date of contract: September 30, 2025

Payment:

Four selected animation artists will receive a commission of $10,000.00 each
