JOB CALL: Short film for Celebration of Life

About you/about the project:

My name is Emily Mathers and I recently lost my brother Ben and am looking to make a short video (a couple of mins long) for his Celebration of Life on August 29 2024. He loved Japanese animation and I think it is a fitting way to honor his memory. I have a short story written about his snippets of his life that lead up to a more fantastical ending that helps make sense of the loss. I am looking for an animator to collaborate with, that can help me bring this story to life.

Job Description:

2D animation, inspiration being Japanese animation style (my brother loved Naruto), short action video with character emotion, close ups, action sequences. Estimated 1-2 minutes in length with music. No voice audio, but action captions. Flexible on scope of the project due to timeline.

Payment:

$50/second of finished animation

Cultural Background Requirements:

All welcome to apply - experience with Japanese animation preferred.

Length of contract:

Short turnaround time. Needs to be completed by August 28th 2024 at latest.

ASAP

Description of duties for contract:

Strong communication skills while collaborating with others in storyline and style. Responsible for all technical tasks related to the creation of an animated video with delivery of the final product by August 28th.

• Initial meeting to discuss the project, its intention, and scope.
• Deliver a thumbnailed storyboard to be approved.
• Deliver an animatic with temp sound to be approved.
• Deliver a final animation
• Work with a sound designer to deliver the final sound track to be approved

Skill/technology requirements:

Any style and technology needed to complete the contract will be the responsibility of the artist.
